Pilots must go through checklists before takeoff, builders do the same when constructing houses and surgeons save lives through the use of a checklist. But in your real estate career do you have a checklist? This week I cover the importance of checklists in real estate.
When I first got into real estate I couldn’t believe how lazy most salespeople were; but the salespeople who got to work seemed to have the most luck and the highest results.
Some people think that real estate is about putting up a few signs up and the sales will just happen. They work 9am to 5pm or in some cases 10am to 4pm, and wonder why they are broke.
There are also successful salespeople who work hard using checklists in real estate. They work hard on themselves and hard on finding listings and making sales.
These people are busy and are always in high demand. They are building great wealth because of their work ethic.
Most people are lazy and you have a choice – do you want to be lazy and broke or work hard for the next 10 years and then have choices because you are financially free?
Jack came out of a 9am to 5pm job, entered real estate and got to work, working long hours and weekends. By doing this he brought in over $1 million in just his second year in real estate.
If Jack can do it, you can too!
Focus and change your career instantly by:
1. Getting to work on the right results producing actions.
2. Living by the 80/20 rule.
3. Ask yourself, “Is this leading to a result?” If not STOP and refocus on results producing activities.
4. Write these 11 words in your diary and have them visible at all time. “I must do the most productive thing at every given moment.”
By focusing 80% of your time on finding listings and then pampering vendors you will make more sales, if you get to work on the right actions and don’t waste time on things that are not leading to a result.
Recently I read The Checklist Manifesto.
I highly recommend it because most professions have a checklist that they follow, so why not use a checklist in real estate? Do you have a checklist in your real estate career?
If not, why not?
Create your own checklist or use this one as a guide:
1. Presentation.
2. Car.
3. Create one good listing appointment.
4. Attend one good listing appointment.
5. Reduce.
6. One qualified buyer appointment.
7. Write wanted ad.
8. Testimonial.
9. Thank you card sent.
Follow this checklist or your own and watch your results and income increase dramatically.
