What to do when you know what you should be doing, but can’t seem to get motivated to do it?

What to do when you know what you should be doing, but can’t seem to get motivated to do it?

What do YOU do in this situation?

I speak to agents, almost on a daily basis, and they find such creative ways to distract themselves from results producing activities.

They fill their day with activities then they feel like they have been productive, but know they have no results for the day and therefore will not get paid.

Worst of all, they have wasted another day which can never be replaced.

Here are some of the most common distractions people tell me:

  • I am getting my cards ready.
  • I am waiting for the website to be finished.
  • I am organising a promotion in a shopping centre.
  • One person I knew for a short time spent over 9 months getting ready and then still had excuses as to why he couldn’t get to work.

Amazing… or should I say fascinating?!

If you are having trouble with doing what you know you should be doing and not doing it, then apply these three tools right now.

  1. USE YOUR LIST
Write a list of at least 6 things you want to get done today or write this list the night before. When you can tick things off the list it gives you a sense of achievement.
  2. DO IT NOW!
Use the self-motivator: “DO IT NOW!”Remember there are only two times in life; one is NOW and the second is TOO LATE.

I had a call last night from a coaching client who had just made a $16,000 fee from something I taught her at Success in Real Estate in February 2020.

She was so excited but then I thought to myself, why has this taken so long? She could have been making a sale a week from this one proven idea.

One of the mysteries of my life is why when people hear a good idea they don’t implement it immediately.

  3. IMPLEMENT IMMEDIATELY
One of the biggest things holding people back is the fear of the unknown and the more they overthink an idea, the more their fear grows and so do the distractions and excuses. So from now on implement things immediately. Here are three tools you can implement immediately for a quick, positive impact on your life and career:

    1. K500
Speak to 500 people over the next 5 days and you will find 3 immediate sellers and 8 future sellers.
    2. House Wanted Ad
Email a good, well-written “HOUSE WANTED URGENTLY” ad to your database.
    3. Follow Up
Follow up the last 100 people you have been in contact with, either by appraising their home or people who you have met when looking to buy and find out if they have a house to sell.

Remember motion creates emotion.

Motion creates motivation.

When you are motivated with a positive mental attitude, you will be amazed at the opportunities that you will create and find.

It’s like a fully loaded B-Double starting it’s journey; it takes some time and a lot of fuel and energy to get moving but once it’s on the highway travelling at 100 kilometres per hour, it’s very hard to stop quickly.

The same applies to you.

Yes, it takes effort to get moving and stay moving in results creating activities but once the momentum kicks in, it’s very hard for anyone to stop you. You become unstoppable.

So “DO IT NOW!”.
