This one word has helped me immensely and without it I would have never succeeded in real estate.
There are salespeople that just do not take any notice of this word and think everything that happens to them is fate.
They blame or they don’t act on what they find.
The salespeople who learn how to heed this word, act on what they find and are among the top salespeople in the country.
When I was unemployed and struggling this word was always on my mind, but I didn’t know what to do about it. I was going to end up being destitute and struggle for the rest of my life, but then one day all that changed.
I realise the power of the word “WHY?” and how it can and will change your life, if you act on it in a positive way.
When I was unemployed and depressed I kept asking myself this question: “Why is it that I see very successful people around me with drive and purpose and I am in the position I am stuck in?”
When I finally got a job in real estate I asked myself the question: “Why is it that some salespeople are selling 8 properties per month and I am struggling to sell 2 properties per month?”
Then: “Why is it that some agents have become millionaires from a career in real estate and I am struggling to pay my bills and put fuel in the car?”
The word WHY is such a beautiful word because if you are dedicated to your career you will become determined to find out why, and then the how follows.
You do this by doing what you are doing right now and that’s being curious and listening to podcasts, reading books and attending training.
Books will give you many answers to the questions you ask.
There was a time that I thought some people were just lucky, and ironically my luck only changed when I came across a book called “Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude” by Napoleon Hill. It changed my life and answered so many questions I had about why some people are much more successful than others.
Many other books offer great wisdom and that’s when I started reading every day. I found that this is why some people seem to have great lives, both personally and with their careers.
So ask yourself the following questions:
• Why aren’t I making more sales?
• Why am I not getting more listings?
• Why aren’t I making more money?
• Why aren’t I happy?
• Why don’t I have great joy in my life?
The answer to all your WHY questions can be obtained through knowledge, experience and study.
It’s like the mechanic who is entrusted to fix your car – the first thing he will do is find out why your car is not working properly and then fix the problem.
The same applies to your career in real estate – why is it that the top salespeople are able to do what they do?
Reading great books and putting the ideas and concepts you learn from these book into practice will give you experience and through this, you will be able to fix your career at anytime, just like the mechanic is able to fix your car.
Ask yourself every day – Why aren’t I doing better today than I did yesterday?
