Reflections on 2018 and a planning session for real estate sales

How important is a planning session for real estate? Well here’s the reality…

There are a lot of salespeople who never review the year just gone and therefore never plan for the new year in real estate. Without a planning session for real estate they produce the same results or less than they did the previous year.

Year after year, this lack of planning results in a wasted career in real estate.

The salespeople who get this right and thrive year after year, hold a planning session for real estate at about this time of year.

They have a new and exciting plan for each year and every year is better than the last, despite what may be happening in the market.

Let me tell you about Murray in Sydney. We worked through a planning session for real estate together.

He now has an exciting plan for 2019 and my prediction is that he will have his best year ever.

Why? Because we have a plan in place and he now knows exactly what he has to do every day. All he has to do is follow the plan.

Every year between Christmas and New Year I review my previous year, contemplating what worked well and what didn’t.

I then set a plan for the New Year.

It’s exciting to see your year ahead of you and then all you have to do is follow the plan.

So if you want to have a great year in 2019, follow these three steps:

1. What worked?

Write down what worked for you in 2018. Be specific and you will find your strengths.

Then be determined to build on these strengths next year.

2. What didn’t work? 

Write down what didn’t work for you.

Things like spending too much time with buyers or doing more marketing instead of the real actions that are necessary to make sales.

3. Make a decision…

Make a decision to become more disciplined and committed.

Decide to have a “can-do” positive attitude.

Say, “I can do this” and then ask the question, “how“?

The same applies to our real estate lives.

We have to be ready and prepared for every opportunity that presents itself to us.

How can you become better prepared?

Because when your opportunity comes, it’s too late to prepare.

By doing this you will make more sales.
