Recently I read “Turning Pro” by Steven Pressfield and I realised that there was a time in my life when I made the decision to turn pro in real estate sales.
It happened when I was at rock bottom and thinking about quitting. So as a last resort I went to a sales training seminar and at that seminar I made the decision that I had had enough of being at rock bottom, and I decided to change.
It’s all in your decision and the salespeople who get this wrong never make the decision to change and turn pro. Instead they become friends with mediocrity and low sales and survive on excuses.
The salespeople who get this right can do what I did and that’s go from no sales in seven weeks to 19 individual house sales in the very next month, after deciding to turn pro.
Do these three things and you are on your way to positive change by turning pro.
1. Embrace your market.
Make the decision that no matter what the market is doing in your area, you will succeed by being better than the market and take total responsibility for your results.
Never use the market as an excuse.
2. Create the market.
Do this by always thinking about your next sale and how you are going to create it.
Get statistics out of your life and focus on reducing the prices of the properties you have on the market; become a master at price reductions and remember the three to one rule:
Speak to your vendors three times with positive news before you see them in person to get a price reduction.
3. Work the market.
Make the market work for you by working with the market and use it to your advantage.
How do you do that?
By reducing properties and making many more sales than your competitors you will have people coming to you because of your growing reputation for getting houses sold.
The easiest listing time I ever had was in the toughest market because people just wanted their house sold.
When you embrace the formula for getting houses sold, of listing, reducing and selling with the emphasis on reducing, then you are on your way to turning pro.
You will have a great time, people will flow to you and you will feel great because you are making many sales and being financial prosperous, all because you made the decision to turn pro.
Its like Novak Djokovic winning the Australian Open compared to the tennis player who plays once a week.
Novak Djokovic trains every day, he works out every day and leaves nothing to chance because he has turned pro and he is the world’s number one.
